Saturday, Sept. 11th

Thanks to Carolyn Anderson from Bethlehem United Methodist Church  as she is spearheading  a barbecue supper fundraiser for Rolling Ridge Riding on Sept. 11th, and are also providing a concert after the meal with Wayne Seymour.  The meal will begin being served at 5:00 pm and it is being done by DONATIONS in the hopes that they will raise as much as they can to help Rolling Ridge Riding!

Location is at Bethlehem United Methodist Church on Bethlehem Ch. Rd. off Hwy. 14.

Here's what we need:  SIX people to volunteer to go to Bethlehem United Methodist Church on Friday night Sept. 10th at 6:00pm to help chop barbecue.

Here's the catch: On that Friday night, Sept. 10th,  Mark and I will be helping the equestrian team to wash, groom, trim and prepare the horses and load up the saddles, bridles, hay, and various equipment we have to have for the last horse show of the season: an Open Horse show at Chestnut Hill Stables which is ALSO on Saturday, Sept. 11th!  The riders should show around 12:00 noon, and we will be finished in plenty of time to attend the Barbecue supper event.  However, that does mean we are in need of SIX people to volunteer to chop barbecue.

If you can help with this task, PLEASE let me know as soon as possible, so that we will have the help we need in place. ALSO, they are asking that Rolling Ridge families help out by bringing desserts.

Saturday, Sept. 11th

EQUESTRIAN TEAM:  The final horseshow competition will be Saturday Sept. 11th at Chestnut Hill Stables in Ruffin.

We will need to be at Chestnut Hill (on Mayfield Rd.) at 11:00.  The Rolling Ridge caravan will leave Rolling Ridge at 10:45 that morning.  Please contact Kathryn if you have questions.

2010 Riding Season

Something new for 2010!

This year Rolling Ridge will offer two 8 week riding sessions and one 6 week riding session! Disabled children may ride in all three sessions, but will need to register for each one separately.

Our first riding session will run from April 5th through May 24th.

The restructuring of the schedule is to help Rolling Ridge serve as many special needs children as possible!

Riders may begin to register for therapy rides and the Rolling Ridge Equestrian Team.

You need a doctor's note stating that your child is physically able to participate in therapeutic horseback riding. Then, contact Kathryn at Rolling Ridge by email or by phone (349-4702).

2010 Equestrian Team

Pam Holland will be the coach for the Equestrian Team this year!!!

Equestrian Team rides will take place on Saturdays starting at 1:00 pm.

Pam needs to have everyone contact her about 4H enrollment.  You do NOT have to join 4H to be on the Rolling Ridge Equestrian Team.   However, you cannot participate in the 4H horseshows if you do not enroll- there is NO FEE to enroll.  If you choose NOT to take advantage of the fabulous 4H opportunities, you can still participate in 1-2 of the open horse shows here locally.  I would encourage EVERYONE to JOIN 4H!!!  It is an unbelievable opportunity!!!

The District 4H show will be tentatively May 22 (on Saturday) –no cost for these District show classes!

The State Championship 4H horse show will be the second week of July on Thursday.- Cost for State show classes is $10 per class.

Physicals will be due for 4H by the end of March.

If you have questions, contact Pam Holland at: kountry22001@yahoo.com

Winter/Spring 2010

Rolling Ridge is under construction!!

A second riding ring is under construction for the miniature horse cart driving program!  This will make it possible for the carts to drive along with the horse rides on therapy nights, and possibly on Equestrian ride nights.

To make this available, volunteers are needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know anything about driving carts? Come to the training session Saturday, March 6th at 1:00!

Rolling Ridge therapy horses will have a new barn to call home soon! This will provide better shelter for these harsh winter storms!!!  Check out the photos of the new barn!
